Exploratorium Academy is a regionally and nationally accreditated Distance Learning Education Provider. Our accreditation is with the NPSAA - National Private Schools Accreditation Alliance.
All courses are full-distance learning courses. Odyssey Compass Learning is the curriculum used. This program is used in both public and private schools; nationally.
Extended Services: Elementary K-6 (Complete On-line Tutorial Learning), Middle School 7-8 (Complete On-line Tutorial Learning), High School 9-12 (Complete On-line Learning, Remediation, Course Recovery, & ACT Tutorials, etc.).

There are many more reasons why E-Learning is a major benefit to students and parents in a “Technological Age”; however the choice and transition is yours for discovery. We ask that you look into our modified E-Learning/Distance Learning Module; students will be afforded invaluable experiences towards learning and career planning.
Students will receive the benefits of on-line instruction including course remediation/recovery. All students will work on-line using a researched-based program. Certified instructors, advanced course material, and tele-conference instruction is available on an as needed basis (see Curriculum then Tuition). Mastery learning has been maximized with this concept. Students will be allowed to take Regular and Advanced/AP Courses including Course Recovery and other related services; Dual Enrollment Services are available upon request.

Exploratorium Academy is a Professional Learning Community - Private High School serving students K-12. The curriculum program provides educational opportunities for high school and adult learners to complete and earn their High School Diploma. We offer K-8 HomeBound/HomeSchool/ Teaching and Learning, Tutorial Services which are online. Exploratorium Academy does not offer GED’s; all graduates earn and receive a fully accreditated state-recognized high school diploma. Exploratorium Academy does not manufactor diplomas; we produce educationally sound students by offering a quality currriculum program. Furthermore, we follow the Code of Alabama in regards to our Best Educational Practices. In short, we embrace STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Education.
Exploratorium Academy continues to holds academic accreditation with The National Private Schools Accreditation Alliance as a Class XI -Distance Learning K-12 School. We have held the same accreditation for the past 12 years.
We offer online certified instruction with strategically based instructional frames that guide the student’s teaching and learning outcomes. In short, Exploratorium Academy offers year-round classes allowing students to earn credit(s) towards any deficient academic year(s). Special needs population services are provided on a as-needed-basis for students who qualify.
More specifically there are:
- No Pre and Post Evaluations. All students are assessed at the time of their performance(s). Students are challenged daily in efforts of meeting both State and National Academic Standards and Curriculum Strands.
- NO GRADUATION EXAM is required for exiting Exploratorium’s program with a fully accredited high school diploma. The assessment module used is a portfolio-styled performance based evaluation system. All core and elective course materials are maintained in this manner.
- Students are evaluated on their individual work efforts and practices. Students are only allowed to earn A’s and B’s (C’s, D’s, and F’s are not allowed). Students must master their core assignments as a provision of remaining in the program. Student’s work is returned to them for a re-submission in efforts of securing passing grades and mastery learning. Remediation is mandatory.

The entire curriculum consists of core-academic disciplines and electives. Exploratorium does not offer any extra curricular activities. However, we will partner with other agencies should there be a high volume need for this service.

The organizational structure of Hill & Lowe Educational Services, Inc. has been authentically postured by its President/Director - Dr. Mary Hill Lowe, EdD, EdS, M.Ed., B.S. Additionally, Dr. Mary Hill Lowe serves as President / Director of Programs for Exploratorium Academy. Dr. Lowe, a mother, wife, and Christian Educator of 41 years experience founded Hill & Lowe Educational Services, Inc. in Montgomery on April 2008. The professional practices of this organization among its educational entities are: Education-Accountability-Leadership. Dr. Lowe, through faith and her applied practice(s) feels than within a controlled educational environment structured by; Discipline, Morals, and Christian Values that a quality educational programs can flourish. Dr. Lowe further believes that self-esteem and culture are very necessary for academic growth. In her words "with direct supervision a student may experience favorable academic outcomes which are self-assured and educationally proficient; this is what I have envisioned for all my students and adult learners".
The founding members associated with Hill & Lowe Educational Services, Inc. in cooperation with The Hill & Lowe Foundation and Exploratorium Academy hold the highest educational talents and academic credentials.
Dr. Mary Hill Lowe holds a B.S. Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Bethune-Cookman College, a M.Ed. Master’s Degree in Adult Education from Florida A&M University, a Ed.S. Education Specialist Degree w/Thesis in General Education from Troy University Montgomery with AA-Certification in Elementary Education. Dr. Lowe also holds AA-Certification in Education Administration from Troy University Montgomery. She received her Ed.D. Educational Doctorate Degree w/Dissertation in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale/Miami Florida. Most recently Dr. Lowe completed 18 state approved hours in Educational Library Media from Alabama State University. Dr. Mary Hill Lowe is a Certifiied Teacher/Administrator with current Alabama Certifications.
