Curriculum Design
Exploratorium Academy provides instruction in the subjects required for a Alabama High School diploma; covering the same material as the curriculum followed by Alabama Public Schools (download state graduation requirements here). This provides preparation for the business world as well as testing for college admissions and transition to college if desired. However, the material is organized differently to make it easier to learn, retain, and use.

    Mastery Learning
At Exploratorium Academy the driving force imbedded in our instructional delivery derives  out of our efforts to provide a quality Education through our Accountability that is fostered by our Leadership.  Students are given the best of instruction in a controlled yet small learning environment.  Academic excellence is achieved through mastery teaching and learning practices.  Students are encouraged and grouped in a manner in which they learn from other students taking similar content/disciplines.  Students are assigned to learning clusters consisting of 12-16 students; all assigned to one teacher.  Learning clustered are designed to control and guide the student’s learning abilities by challenging their potential with rigorous discussions, analytical reading and writing exercise, and modern/current learning activities and related resources.  The State of Alabama’s Department of Education provides the core academic learning modules and course objectives that guide our instructional practices.

Students at Exploratorium Academy have an opportunity to continue their education through our year round program(s) which includes modified web based tutorials.  We offer a Fall, Winter, and Summer Semester.  During the summer semester students have the option to enroll in our comprehensive summer program (when offered).  This program is designed for students in grades 7-12 who have the scholastic ability to maintain participation in a high-paced (site and modified web-based) comprehensive program.
